History connects the Saint-Sardos vineyards with the Abbey of Grandselve, around which an intense wine production developped. The wines were sent to Bordeaux, Bayonne, Paris, England and the French West indies
Nowadays, Syrah and Tannat are the principal grape varieties at the basis of a resurgence in wine production. Some forty growers produce wine of VDQS qulity, that is the category between AOC and ordinary vin de pays.
